14-Pyeong English Learning Center Interior at Urban Square in Mangpo
A compact English learning center with separate window-side classroom and waiting areas
Hello, I'm designer Ham Young-ju, creating warm, welcoming spaces :)
Today's project is a 14-pyeong English learning center in Mangpo. The director wanted children to enjoy studying in a comfortable, cozy setting like a cafe rather than a formal academy.
With that wish in mind, we used white and light wood tones to create a bright, warm atmosphere that keeps the long, narrow space from feeling enclosed.
Wood louver partitions and fluted panels add character to an otherwise simple space, naturally dividing it while creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Shall we explore this warm space, ready to fill with children's laughter?

Floor plan

This is the first space encountered on entering the learning center. A neat reception desk and built-in bench let students wait comfortably.
A wall separates it from the study area to reduce noise, with a small internal window allowing a view inside without feeling enclosed.
Self-Study RoomStudents can study freely here before and after class. A wood louver partition naturally separates it from the classroom while making the space feel larger.
Desks along the wall create an environment where students can focus fully on their studies.
ClassroomThe main classroom at the back focuses on helping students concentrate during lessons.
Desks are arranged so the teacher can give every student close attention, with a calm overall atmosphere supporting effective learning.
Let's look more closely at the design concept that makes this space special.
Design

Light wood and full-height glass provide a clear view inside while creating a warm, comfortable feel.
Subtle indirect lighting above the business name softens the space, and a long built-in bench inside adds practicality.

Inside, a gallery wall of small decorative pieces gives students something to enjoy while waiting comfortably.

Wood fluted panels up to waist height add comfort, while framed black-and-white cityscapes on the opposite wall create a modern gallery feel.

Warm wood tones and white create a cozy atmosphere where children and parents can wait comfortably.
The entire space beneath the bench serves as practical storage.

Soft color combinations and materials add refined, cozy accents.

A decorative internal window in the corridor wall offers a glimpse into the classroom, making the space feel larger and more open.

It divides the area instead of a solid wall, keeping sightlines open and making the interior feel larger.
An internal window with textured glass adds interest to the corridor wall.

Wall finishes were selected for practical functions such as resistance to everyday marks, as well as their design.
These choices create a pleasant environment where children can concentrate in class.

White walls and calm gray flooring form the base, with warm wood accents.
LED panel lights brighten the ceiling to reduce strain on children's eyes.

A clean white finish and ways of separating areas without enclosing them are especially useful for small academies.
Notes
This English learning center project in Mangpo began with the director's wish for children to study as comfortably as they would in a cafe, away from the formal atmosphere often associated with academies.
We used light wood tones and white throughout to keep the long, narrow space feeling open.
Wood louver partitions gently divide the space instead of solid walls, with fluted wall panels adding warmth and character.
The result is a cozy, practical interior that keeps learning areas independent while maintaining a connected overall space.
